Rixos Hotels Expand To Asia

Rixos Premium Khao Lak Opening To Boost Group's Global Expansion Strategy
BANGKOK - Luxury hospitality group, Rixos Hotels, continues its global expansion with the launch of its first hotel in Thailand.
The 298-room Rixos Premium Khao Lak opens on December 16, the Rixos Group's initial hotel in Asia as it expands outside its European base for the first time.
The Khao Lak resort follows the company's eight other properties in Europe by presenting Asia's first exclusive "All Inclusive" concept, in which guests receive meals and other food and beverage options as part of the in-room package.
The "Premium" brand is only given to the group's upmarket properties.
Rixos Hotels Corporate Communications, Advertisement and PR Manager, Tunc Tuzcu, said the company is drawn to the dynamic Asia market as it leads the world's tourism industry in growth, with Thailand at its core.
"We aim to drive business from our European properties into our emerging Asian portfolio as well as entice Asians to stay in our established European hotels," he said.
"By launching the Rixos brand and our premium product in Khao Lak we hope to become as popular and successful in Asia as we are in Europe."
Experienced Asian hotelier William Schillinger has been appointed General Manager to launch the Rixos Premium Khao Lak. The company has also opened an Asia Pacific regional headquarters in Bangkok.
Rixos Premium Khao Lak is located on a 300-metre stretch of private beach overlooking the Andaman Sea, less than 90 minutes from Phuket International Airport.
The resort features three Executive Suites, 16 Duplex Suites, 20 Junior Suites, 149 Deluxe Rooms and 110 Lagoon and Pool Access Rooms, four restaurants - serving international, Thai, Japanese and Mediterranean dishes, evening entertainment, special facilities in The Rixy Club for children and a spa with 15 private treatment villas.
Inside the resort's 80,000-square-metre tropical garden is Southeast Asia's largest lagoon-style swimming pool at 16,000 square metres. Recreation facilities offer beach volleyball, water polo, sailing, wind surfing, snorkelling, diving, paddleboats, canoeing, rafting, hiking and elephant trekking.
Rixos Premium Khao Lak provides three conference rooms and three meeting rooms, which can be joined into a 280-guest, theatre-style Grand Ballroom.
European-based Rixos Hotels Group will also launch an Ottoman-themed 410-rooms hotel and 38 private villas in the Palm Jumeirah, Dubai in 2009, targeting a total of 14 properties worldwide by 2010.
Director of Business Development of Ottoman Palace by Rixos, Yanal Abaza, said: "The Ottoman Palace is our first project in the Middle East and scheduled to open its doors next year on the iconic man-made island The Palm Jumeirah."
The Ottoman Palace by Rixos boasts 410 luxury rooms, 16 food and beverage outlets and the biggest Turkish spa in the region (8,500 square metres). It will also offer world-class entertainment and venue for concerts and events.
