A Holiday to Treasure Aboard The Ghan
Great Southern Rail have just announced a range of new ‘National Treasure’ holiday packages, that for a limited time offer the opportunity to experience a holiday travelling on The Ghan, with savings of up to $600 per person.*
Great Southern Rail has released a range of nine special holiday packages that offer the journey of a lifetime aboard The Ghan travelling in Platinum or Gold Service, hotel accommodation at either the beginning or end of the journey, plus a range of tours such as two-day Kakadu National Park tour, or a Barossa Valley wine tour.
Guests travelling in luxury of Platinum Service save up to $600 per person* and those travelling in the comfort of Gold Service save up to $400 per person* on the normal retail price of these packages, but for a limited time only with these special packages on offer only until 30 June 2010.
The Ghan is a national treasure, travelling through the heart of Australia for over eighty years. Travelling over three days and two nights from the northern tropics through the red centre and the rolling hills and plains of the south, a journey on The Ghan is the best way to experience Australia’s vast interior.
Chief Executive Tony Braxton-Smith, said: “Travelling on The Ghan is on many Australian’s ‘must do list’. Our ‘National Treasure’ holiday packages offer exceptional value, making now the perfect time to book,” said Tony.
Guests travelling in Platinum Service, launched in 2008, will experience a new standard of rail travel, with spacious cabins approximately twice the size of Gold Service with a full ensuite bathroom.
During the day Platinum Service guests enjoy comfortable in cabin lounge suites with panoramic views out of both sides of the train. Travellers enjoy the rich tapestry of subtly changing landscapes rolling by at a leisurely pace. At night the Platinum cabin converts to a sleeper with a full size double bed or twin single beds side by side.
“Designed to meet the needs of the discerning traveler who looks for world-class standards, Platinum Service has been an overwhelming success, offering a new level of service on board,” said Tony.
The classic Gold Service remains a popular choice, offering the comforts of the golden days of rail travel, with a comfortable lounge seat in a compact cabin converting to twin bunk beds overnight.
Guests travelling in both Platinum and Gold Service enjoy all meals inclusive in the price, served in the beautifully decorated Queen Adelaide Restaurant.
They also enjoy the use of the fully-licensed Outback Explorer Lounge carriage, where they can relax with a drink and socialise with fellow travelers. Whistle-stop tours at Katherine and Alice Springs allow guests the opportunity to explore some scenic highlights along the 3000km route travelled by this legendary train service.
