Aurora Expeditions are delighted to announce the addition of a new land-based expedition to Nepal in their 2013 program. Two Himalayan treks will celebrate the 60 year anniversary of the first ascent of Mt Everest, and will be led by Aurora's climbing guru, Tashi Tenzing, also the grandson of Tenzing Norgay Sherpa, who completed the first ascent of Mt Everest with Sir Edmund Hillary in 1953. The 'Classic Everest Trek' has been a migration route of Sherpa's for over a thousand years, and covers spectacular highlights of the Everest region.

A maximum of 15 trekkers will enjoy the breathtakingly beautiful Himalayas where Sherpa culture still thrives. Gain insights into Sherpa culture and the incredible history of the Tenzing family. Guests will meet family members and have the opportunity to visit Tashi's grandfather's house in Thame. This small community of Sherpas are renowned for being the strongest in the region and between them have climbed Everest over 1000 times.
