JIA Shanghai Voted on Travel + Leisure's 'It List' of World's Top 30 New Hotels

JIA Shanghai has earned a prestigious spot on Travel + Leisure magazine's 'It List 2008' of the world's top 30 new hotels.

Opened last year, JIA Shanghai is the only hotel in China included in the annual international accolades.

Travel + Leisure heralded JIA Shanghai for bringing "a much-needed dose of boutique intimacy to the city's booming hotel scene".

The trio of up-and-coming designers who crafted the eclectic Asian-contemporary interiors – Andre Fu, BURO Architects and Darryl Goveas – were singled out for creating "a well-choreographed hideaway of dark wood floors, richly embroidered fabrics, and elegant birdcages, which sit alongside Knoll and Moroso furniture"

The judges added: "Given how frenetic Shanghai is, we loved the property's host of cozy amenities: well-stocked marble kitchenettes, in-room board games, and help-yourself (complementary) tea and bottled water. There's even free Wi-Fi – still a luxury among upscale properties."

Recognition by Travel + Leisure follows hot-on-the-heels of JIA Shanghai's recent nomination on the highly coveted annual Condé Nast Traveler "Hot List" of the hottest new hotels, restaurants and spas around the world.

In a 1920's building on fashionable West Nanjing Road, the 55-room JIA Shanghai is nominated on Travel + Leisure's 'It List' in such prestigious Asia company as Peninsula Tokyo, Banyan Tree Maldives and St. Regis, Singapore.

Internationally, it ranks alongside luxury properties including The Plaza, New York, Mandarin Oriental Riviera Maya in Mexico and The Connaught, London.

"We are thrilled to receive a second prestigious accolade within the first year of opening," said JIA brand developer, Singaporean entrepreneur Yenn Wong. "We are proud to have created a unique and exciting new venue in Shanghai."

Travel + Leisure's 'It List' covers six continents with hotels ranging from stylish beach resorts to newly redone city hideaways and eco-friendly retreats, with rates priced from US$155 to US$4,600 a night. The entire list is detailed online at www.travelandleisure.com/itlist.

Located in a spectacular setting, 300km west of Cairns in Queensland, Wrotham Park Lodge encompasses the spirit of the Australian outback combined with a unique, luxury resort experience.

Joining the stockmen and women on horseback guests will share the excitement of rounding up the herds, sometimes in unison with a helicopter.

This new experience is tailored to each guest and the level of involvement they’d like to have in a real life muster. Those looking for an extra adrenalin rush can also choose to take flight in a helicopter to follow the muster by air. If you’d rather watch, then guests can also witness all the excitement and action around the stock yards with half-day cattle station tours, horse rides, 4WD adventures and exhilarating helicopter scenic tours.

Guests can also join Wrotham Park Lodge's chefs for a demonstration of cooking traditional country recipes with only the freshest of ingredients, much like our region's ancestors who cooked vegetables plucked directly from the veggie patch, and fresh cuts of meat straight from the cattle station. EMIRATES LEADS THE POLLS

DUBAI, U.A.E., 18th May 2008 – Emirates Airline has started the month of May in style, sweeping four major awards for excellence at the Business Traveller Middle East Awards 2008 ceremony in Dubai. A few days later, Emirates was named "Most Popular Airline" in ArabianBusiness.com's Travel Survey 2008, outflanking the next closest contender by a large margin.

In both awards, readers from the region voted for their favourite travel provider.

At the Business Traveller Middle East Awards 2008 gala ceremony, Emirates walked away with four of the most coveted airline gongs for "Best Airline", "Best Business Class", "Best Regional Airline" and "Best Frequent Flyer Programme".  In the other three airline categories in which Emirates was eligible to compete, it was ranked amongst the top three.

Tim Clark, President, Emirates Airline, and Brian Labelle, Senior Vice President, Skywards, collected these awards on behalf of Emirates.

In the ArabianBusiness.com's travel survey, Emirates garnered 56.35% of all votes for most preferred airline, compared to the next ranked airline which gained 10.5% of votes.

Mr. Clark said: "Emirates invests millions of dollars in product and service innovation. It has always been our aim to deliver the best possible travel experience, and it is gratifying to be recognised for our efforts by the region's business travellers – our core customers.

"We intend to keep our customers at the centre of all that we do, listening to what they want, as we develop new products and services that will raise the luxury standards for air travel and make travel with Emirates even more enjoyable."

Emirates pioneered true luxury in commercial air travel on its Airbus A340-500 aircraft in 2003, when it introduced the world's first private suites in its First Class cabin, and over 600 channels of on-demand entertainment in all seats in all classes. Feedback from travellers was tremendous.

Today Emirates' new aircraft are delivered with private suites fitted in First Class, lie-flat seats in Business Class, ergonomic seats in Economy Class, and 1,000 channels of on-demand entertainment in all seats. The airline also implemented an aggressive retrofit programme to bring these latest inflight amenities to the rest of its fleet. To date, nearly half of Emirates' fleet are equipped with these latest comforts.

Dubai-based Emirates is one of the world's most successful and profitable airlines. Operating services to 99 cities spanning 62 countries on six continents, Emirates has earned a reputation for inflight innovation and industry-leading service, and has won more than 400 international awards for excellence across its operations.-ends
