Quarterly incentives have been introduced by the Taiwan Tourism Bureau to encourage individual travellers to experience the broad offering of Taiwan as a unique holiday destination.
As part of the Tour Taiwan Years 2008-2009 campaign, the Bureau are offering free gifts to individuals travelling to Taiwan in 2008.
The gifts include a theme park discount voucher for those visiting before the end of June, a fresh fruit basket will be given to those visiting between July and September and an opportunity to visit Taiwan's famous hot springs for free will be given away during October to December.
Travellers visiting Taiwan can take part in a wide range of exciting events, tourist attractions and activities on offer. Must see places to visit include Taipei 101 – one of the tallest buildings in the world and a fantastic shopping destination, the National Palace Museum, which is ranked one of the top four museums in the world, the Shilin night markets which are the largest in Taiwan, Green Island for snorkelling and diving and Sun Moon Lake and Taroko Gorge famous for their scenic backdrops.
Major annual events include the lantern, food, dragon boat, and orchid festivals.
Tourists who purchase an airline ticket or package tour to Taiwan qualify for the incentive scheme can collect their gift voucher from their travel agency or airline. The number of gifts is limited and each traveller may receive only one, on a first-come, first-served basis.
