The festivals of Venice and a river cruise with European Waterways – the perfect combination

Lovers of the beautiful city of Venice will know that its festivals are world-famous and this year is no exception with events such as Festa del Redentore running on 19 and 20 July and the Venice International Film Festival starting late August.

The Festa del Redentore happens near St Mark’s Square each year, where people from all over walk across the Grand Canal on a floating bridge of barges for good luck, followed by an amazing fireworks display over the lagoon. Later in summer, the Venice International Film Festival kicks off, an 11 day event in August that takes place along the sea-facing Lido Esplanade. unnamed (19)
But what to do before and after these festivities? The answer - cruise across the Venetian Lagoon past colourful islands and through the Po Valley aboard La Bella Vita, a stylish 20 passenger river cruiser. There will be tours of Chioggia, Ferrara and the Renaissance gem of Mantua along the way, and delicious Italian food prepared by the talented onboard chef – accompanied of course by fine Italian wines.
Rates for La Bella Vita’s 6-night European summer cruises start at €2,690 per person, and include all meals, wines, an open bar, numerous other daily escorted excursions, local transfers and admissions. Rates are based on double occupancy.
