Stars Align for Uluru Astronomy Weekend 2014

Ayers Rock Resort, in partnership with the Centre of Excellence for All-sky Astrophysics (CAASTRO), will hold an Uluru Astronomy Weekend from Friday 22 to Sunday 24 August 2014. Hosted by popular scientific personality Dr Karl Kruszelnicki, the weekend will be a celebration of the vast outback night sky from arguably the best vantage point in the world, Australia's Red Centre.
Event highlights include “Stellar Sounds of Silence,” a bush tucker inspired dining experience followed by an aperitif and guided tour of the outback night sky with Dr Karl in dialogue with prominent astronomers. For astronomy enthusiasts, sit back and enjoy Panel Predictions, aninteractive lunch that provides a platform to ask all those burning astronomical questions to an entertaining expert panel.
Gearing up to be a standout event is the Galaxy Star Ball, a glamorous Studio 54 inspired evening to be held at the award-winning Uluru Meeting Place. Frock-up and let the infectiously enthusiastic MC Dr Karl lead you on an enjoyable evening of space themed entertainment at this star studded affair.
This enlightening weekend will also include engaging discussions on astro-statistics and the structure of the cosmos with some of the world's leading experts, hands on introductory astronomy activities for families, a satellite marketplace and much more.
“The spiritual heart of Australia is one of the best vantage points in the world to explore the galaxy with its low humidity and minimal light pollution allowing guests to view the stars and planets like never before,” said Ray Stone, Voyages Executive General Manager Sales Marketing and Distribution.
“For those already familiar with the night sky, or those new to studying the cosmos, our Uluru Astronomy Weekend will be an enlightening and engaging weekend,” said Ray.
The Uluru Astronomy Weekend is part of Ayers Rock Resort's 2014 major events program, and will be followed by Uluru in View Photography Weekend, 10-12 October 2014. For more details visitwww.ayersrockresort/events
