Kakadu Tourism Launches Range Of New Touring Experiences


Kakadu Tourism has launched a series of new touring programmes to provide visitors with memorable insights into the region’s natural and cultural wonders.

Kakadu Tourism is an Indigenous-owned company that operates Kakadu Crocodile Hotel, Cooinda Lodge, Spirit of Kakadu Adventure Tours, Yellow Water Cruises, Warradjan Cultural Centre, Yellow Water Camping, Yellow Water Under the Stars and Yellow Water Fishing.

The two Kakadu Tourism hotels – the famed Kakadu Crocodile Hotel and Cooinda Lodge – are now part of theAccor hotel group, with the Crocodile Hotel managed under the Mercure hotel brand.

Touring programmes available for visitors in the current season will include:

NEW ‘FOOTPRINTS OF THE PAST’ TOUR
This highly inspirational tour allows visitors to see some amazingly scenic parts of Kakadu and also travel through time, exploring the historical wonders of Kakadu. The informative tour focuses on the Indigenous, European, mining and pastoral history of the region, concluding with a spectacular finale: sundowners at an exclusive private billabong. The full day tour costs $250 per adult and $205 per child, and includes pick-up and drop-off to guests staying at Cooinda and Jabiru

NEW ‘KAKADU THROUGH THE EYES OF PHOTOGRAPHER PAUL ARNOLD’ TOUR
Another new product offering allows visitors to see Yellow Water through the eyes of renowned landscape photographer, Paul Arnold. Paul is a passionate bushman and remote outback traveller, and on this tour he promotes photographic art with a story, “Find it. Learn it. Shoot it”. Paul helps people capture the Kakadu landscape at its most evocative, while also providing useful hints for improving photographic skills.

SPIRIT OF KAKADU ADVENTURE TOUR
Spectacular waterfalls are at the heart of the Kakadu adventure experience, and Spirit of Kakadu Adventure Tour provide an exclusive off-road adventure to visit the waterfalls, swimming holes and escarpments of Kakadu. The Adventure Tour offers 4WD all day and half day tours and operates year round. Flexible itineraries change according to access and time of the year.

“UNDER THE STARS” CRUISE OF YELLOW WATER BILLABONG
The 1½ hour cruise on Yellow Water Billabong captures the Kakadu nightscape, with Indigenous guides relating stories passed from generation to generation by local Kakadu clans, as well as other stories from around Australia that weave the rich tapestry of Aboriginal night mythology. The night cruise departs at 1945 and costs $90 an adult and $60 a child (cruise is subject to atmospheric conditions).

Cooinda Lodge provides the ideal base to explore Kakadu National Park and provides a range of accommodation styles suitable for all budgets and requirements – from comfortable lodge room with private courtyard through to budget accommodation with camp kitchen and camping sites for caravans and tents.

Indigenous owned Cooinda Lodge is central to major Kakadu National Park attractions including Nourlangie Rock Art Site, Jim Jim & Twin Falls, Yellow Water Cruises and Warradjan Cultural Centre.

Transfers also operate to and from the Kakadu Crocodile Hotel in Jabiru.
