Olims Hotel takes hat trick at AHA awards
Olims Hotel took out three coveted wins at the Australian Hotel Association Awards recently, beating out stiff competition to win Best Redeveloped Licensed Premises; Best Outdoor Entertainment Venue; and Best Sporting and Gaming Venue.
The awards are proof Olims remains at the epicentre of Canberra's social life, having been entertaining locals since 1927.
General Manager Brook Paulka says that more than the new infrastructure, it's still the people that make Olims special.
"I would like to thank our staff, whose dedication to our customers and pride in the hotel has ensured our continuing success," he said. "The awards are also testament to the huge investment the Schwarz family has made in restoring this iconic property to its former glory and I commend them on respecting the hotel's heritage while bringing it into the 21st century."
Olims will soon complete the second stage of its redevelopment, with a new Bistro kitchen and restaurant, which will create the perfect setting for stylish, yet relaxed dining with family and friends.
Last year the hotel celebrated its 80th anniversary and completed a refurbishment to its guest rooms and most public areas. The result is almost like a brand new hotel within the National Trust-listed façade.
