For fresh, fun and adventure bring your family to play in nature's great theme park on the Shipwreck Coast.
Hunt the roaring wind, navigate for hidden treasure, explore the night sky, track local fauna, learn to read history in rocks and use your detective skills to uncover the secrets of our southern lands with the brand new Craters to Coast Discovery Program.
The self- guided activity program is free for the whole family and available seven days a week. Participants can borrow telescopes, anemometers, GPS units, digital cameras and compasses to explore the region, complete themed activities and even have the opportunity to win great prizes.
"To begin we simply opened up our eyes to the landscape as a child and thought freshly on its potential for play and learning!" said Mark Cuthell, Coordinator 12 Apostles Visitor Information Centre - Port Campbell.
The program will help families rediscover their wild side this winter with six themed activities including Crater Quest, Digital Detectives, Quicksnap, Stargazer, Wind Hunter as well as Binocular Hire to enhance penguin viewing opportunities at the 12 Apostles and London Bridge.
"We wanted something that was engaging and fun, something that would encourage children to take a closer look. We set out with a goal to create a new benchmark in nature based interpretation, one that didn't require signs or built structure, the result being an exciting self guided activity program," said Cuthell.
The program was developed in partnership with Corangamite Shire and key funding partner Woodside. The program was incepted in 2007 remaining unfunded until Woodside came on board in 2009. The program will be launched on June 18, 2010.
