Stay In Same Rome Hotel As Our First Saint, Mary Mackillop
Harvest Pilgrimages, official tour operator for the upcoming Mary Mackillop Canonisation celebrations in Rome, is offering a very special 6 night Rome Pilgrimage staying at the Anglo Americano Hotel – the exact same property where Mary MacKillop lodged after her arrival in Rome on the 11th May 1873.
“The Anglo Americano Hotel occupies an historic building dating back to the 17th century and is located right in the heart of the Baroque and Renaissance centre of the city,” Harvest Pilgrimages managing director Philip Ryall said. “This is where Mary MacKillop initially stayed on first arrival in Rome after a 6 week journey from Adelaide. How surreal will it be for pilgrims that stay here and wonder whether they are in fact sleeping in the exact same room as Mary! So it is an incredible experience to stay in such an historic place – you are really walking in her footsteps,” Mr Ryall said.
Mary, in her diary, wrote: “ With little luggage, it was not too difficult to make my way to the Anglo-Americano Hotel even though I was feeling very tired, weak and hungry – it was hard to believe I had finally arrived.”
Harvest Pilgrimage packages start from $3190pp twin share for a four night ‘Rome Express’ which includes economy airfares with Cathay Pacific, quality accommodation, deluxe coach travel and transfers, all breakfasts and dinners daily, entry tickets to all three official ceremonies, pilgrim sightseeing, professional escorts plus a cabin bag, and canonisation journal and ticket wallet.
A six night ‘Rome Pilgrimage’ package staying at the Anglo Americano is priced at $3990pp twin share. In all there is a choice of 21 packages ranging from four to 17 days.
