The Mekong journey includes visits by sampan boats and trishaws to floating markets, silk-weaving villages and local schools and monasteries while the Irrawaddy cruise features tours of terracotta potteries, craft workshops and tuk tuk excursions to local markets and palaces as well as the religious monuments in the ancient city of Bagan.
Active Travel, which specialises in Asian river cruises, is offering the Mekong cruises on August 2 and 9, 2014, from US$1606 per person (solo or twin-share with no single supplement), including the 10 per cent discount.
The Burma cruise departures on August 9 and 16 and September 16, 2014, are available from US$855 per person (solo or twin-share with no single supplement), including the 10 per cent discount.
Fares include onboard meals and beverages and excursions ashore with cold towels and cool drinks also offered to passengers when they return aboard after trips ashore.
