After more than a decade sailing the South Pacific, the distinctive cruise freighter will be retired in late 2015.
To farewell Aranui 3, the Tahitian freighter cruise line is offering discounts of 10 per cent on the ship’s June 6 and August 29, 2015, departures, with fares now priced from $5500* per person twin share in a standard cabin.
Aranui’s Regional Representative Australia New Zealand Laurent Wong said the cruise fare included thousands of dollars’ worth of added value such as shore excursions in each port, a twice weekly laundry service, all main meals and a complimentary glass of wine with onboard lunches and dinners.
“The Aranui experience offers travellers the chance to explore nine beautiful islands across three French Polynesian archipelagoes – the Marquesas, Tuamotus and Society Islands – and with transport, meals, accommodation and tours all included, it’s a great value way to see Tahiti,” Mr Wong said.
During the two 14-day roundtrip cruises from Papeete, Aranui 3 will visit Nuku Hiva, Ua Pou, Tahuata, Fatu Hiva, Hiva Oa, Ua Huka, and in the Marquesas, Takapoto and Rangiroa in the Tuamotus and the famed Society Island of Bora Bora.
Aranui 3 accommodates around 200 passengers in air-conditioned cabins including suites with private balconies and deluxe and standard twin rooms.
The freighter line dispenses a lifeline of food, fuel and other staples to remote island ports while passengers disembark and explore lush Garden of Eden landscapes on a range of complimentary excursions including hikes and 4WD tours. In 2015, Bora Bora will be added to all of the itineraries with guests enjoying a picnic lunch on a secluded beach and optional activities such as a lagoon excursion, manta ray experience and a helicopter ride.
Throughout the journey, guests enjoy the comforts of a cruise ship from a spacious sundeck to a freshwater swimming pool, a gym and a library.
Aranui 3 is scheduled to retire in late 2015, when the 256-passenger Aranui 5 commences service.
