Solomon Islands Visitors Bureau welcomes flights from Pacific Blue

Michael Tokuru, General Manager SIVB today welcomed the move by Pacific Blue to launch flights to the Solomon Islands from Brisbane.

Mr Tokuru said, "The Solomon Islands has experienced some excellent growth in leisure travel this year with the latest figures showing a 27.4 percent increase in the holiday market. The launch of these flights is further evidence at the success of SIVB's marketing plans continuing to attract more international visitors."

He said, "I congratulate the government and Pacific Blue for delivering these new international flights. Airline seat capacity is vital for international tourism and business travel and SIVB will continue to work with Solomon Airlines and Australian airlines to encourage and increase visitor numbers to the Solomon Islands."

He said, "We look forward to working with Pacific Blue on their launch flight on December 2, and supporting this new capacity to Honiara. Pacific Blue's sister airline Virgin Blue has excellent coverage throughout Australia in all main capital cities and regional areas which means ease of travel for our Australian visitors from such main centres as Sydney and Melbourne as well as other cities as mentioned."

Pacific Blue will fly direct between Brisbane and the Solomon Islands twice weekly with convenient connections available from Perth, Sydney, Adelaide, Canberra and Melbourne.
