Sea Kayak Adventures from the Pacific to the Polar Regions

Southern Sea Ventures has released a 2009 brochure packed with sea kayaking holidays. From the palm-fringed white sandy beaches of Fiji, Tonga and Papua New Guinea, to the ethereal beauty of towering icebergs in Greenland and Antarctica.

Four new trips for 2009 include two new itineraries on the sun-soaked Dalmatian coast of Central Europe. The 'Dolphin Trail' paddles in the first reserve for dolphins in the Adriatic, exploring hidden coves, caves and cliffs. The 10-day trip departs in May 09 and costs US$2195. The 'Kornati' Explorer winds through the labyrinth of the Kornati Islands archipelago, taking time out for coastal treks and a daily snorkel. The 9-day trip departs in May and Sept and costs US$2045.

"Arctic Dreams' is a new 20 day polar adventure combining Iceland, Greenland, Spitsbergen and Norway. Be prepared for massive icebergs, stunning fjords and spectacular wildlife including polar bears, walrus and seals. Departs Aug 5 and costs from US$11,680 depending on the cabin chosen.

For a trip without boundaries, the "Bering Strait and Wrangel Island" in the Russian Arctic, will suit the modern day explorer with a penchant to paddle where few have been before! Wrangel Island is the ultimate nature reserve, alive with snow geese, muskox, polar bear, arctic wolves and huge seabird colonies. Departs Aug 6 and costs from US$6465 depending on cabin.

Some extra features have been added to the popular Fiji Yasawas trip, (with an extra paddling day in 2009), such as a special family departure and new group and private departure options.
