Hamilton Island celebrates Mother's Day with charity walk

Hamilton Island will proudly host the Mother’s Day Classic “Walk in the Park” fundraiser for Breast Cancer Research as a tribute to mums all around Australia on Sunday 8 May.

This is the first time Hamilton Island has been the venue for this popular event which has been run by the National Breast Cancer Foundation every year since 1998. Since that time, the Mother’s Day Classic has raised $7.8 million for the Foundation and created a Mother’s Day tradition that increases awareness about a disease that affects one in nine Australian women.

The Walk kicks off at 8am with participants having the option to choose either a scenic 4 or 8km course on the Island. A sausage sizzle will be served after the event with activities and entertainment available for families to relax and enjoy around the beachside Bougainvillea pool.

The event is open to people of all fitness levels. Entries can be made at http://mothersdayclassic.com.au/event/qld/hamilton-island-qld.

Hamilton Island’s impressive new Spa wumurdaylin or Spa qualia will be open all afternoon for guests wanting to take the energy levels down a notch or two and indulge in a much needed massage or soothing foot treatment. The range of experiences available extends from facials, body treatments and massages right through to alternative therapies to recharge, heal and balance the body.
