Australian champion gives free sports clinics


If you’ve dreamt of adding an edge to your fitness regime, but didn’t know how to do it, Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa has the answer.

The resort will be hosting a series of free off-road triathlon workshops on February 18, 19 and 20 in the lead up to the 2014 Australian Cross Triathlon Championships & Multisport Festival which will be held at the resort on the weekend of February 22 and 23.
Australia’s reigning off-road triathlon champion Connie Silvestri will be leading free clinics and course orientations for athletes of all abilities.unnamed
Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa General Manager Scott O’Neile said it is a unique opportunity to receive free tips and advice from one of Australia’s leading athletes.
“Connie will be conducing clinics on running techniques, mountain bike riding tips and offering advice on the best way to tackle the swim and transitions,” said Scott.
“The workshops will be held each evening of February 18, 19 and 20, with a different topic each day as well as a course orientation.”
The clinics are free and numbers will be limited to ensure a quality experience for all participants.

The 2014 Australian Cross Triathlon Championships & Multisport Festival at Lake Crackenback Resort & Spa is an event for all of the family. 
On Saturday 22 February the event line up will include the Australian Cross Triathlon Championships(1.5km swim, 30km mountain bike ride and 10km trail run) and a sprint distance cross triathlon (500 metre swim, 15 km mountain bike ride and 5km trail run).
There will be two events especially for children on Saturday including a Junior Cross Triathlon for children aged between 10 and 15 years consisting of a 200 metre swim, a 6km mountain bike ride and 1km trail run.  There will also be a Dirt Kids Cross Triathlon for children aged between 7 and 10 years with a 50 metre swim, 3km mountain bike ride and 500 metre trail run.
On Sunday morning, the mountain bikers will be out in force with adults competing in a 75km cross-country mountain bike marathon.  There will be a half marathon (45km) for riders aged 16 upwards and a sprint race of 15km for those aged older than 10 years.
Sunday afternoon will be for the trail runners with a half-marathon, 10km run and family-friendly fun-run.
Accommodation packages start from  $160 per person for two nights accommodation, daily buffet breakfast and a ticket to the Saturday night awards dinner.
