Premiere of "Restaurant Dieter Mueller": gourmet restaurant on board MS EUROPA now open

- Star chef Dieter Mueller on board seventy days a year as patron
- No surcharge for dining in "Restaurant Dieter Mueller"

Dieter Mueller will be on board the international cruise (Germany/English) from Darwin/Australia to Sydney/Australia, making stops in Papua New Guinea, from January 28-February 17, 2011.

Dieter Mueller became the first star chef to open his own gourmet restaurant on board the EUROPA. After a redesign, while docked in a Hamburg shipyard, the former euro-asian restaurant 'Oriental' on the 5-star-plus Hapag-Lloyd Cruises ship (acc. to the Berlitz Cruise Guide) was transformed into the "Restaurant Dieter Mueller". Dieter Mueller will work along side MS EUROPA's head chef, former Wohlfahrt-student Stefan Wilke, who will continue to run the other three restaurants onboard. Dieter Mueller will be in charge of his new restaurant, and be onboard 70-days a year.

Be it ice cream parfait of chocolate and tonka beans, wild prawn in curry and lemongrass cappuccino, or quail breast in a pastry leaf — the guests of EUROPA can now enjoy their favourite classic dishes, as well as new culinary compositions, cooked by Dieter Mueller. The cuisine of EUROPA's "Restaurant Dieter Mueller" offers a contemporary menu, with a combination of French, Asian and Mediterranean influences. The gourmet flavors of Dieter Mueller's hometown of Baden, on the east bank of the Rhine River in the southwest of Germany, will not be lost on the high seas, with recipes incorporating ingredients from this region in Germany as well. There will be no surcharge for dining in the 26-seat "Restaurant Dieter Mueller," which will serve dinner daily.

The top chef — highly acclaimed by Guide Michelin and Gault Millau for over eighteen years — was head chef until 2008, and until 2010, patron of the restaurant in Schlosshotel Lerbach, which has three Michelin stars. Dieter Mueller is looking forward to the new challenge. "Uncompromising quality for the guest on the best cruise ship — that's what we're aiming for," says Mueller, explaining his philosophy.

Sebastian Ahrens, Managing Director of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises, adds: '"Since its commissioning, the EUROPA has progressed from a traditional cruise ship to a modern day vessel competing with today's new ships in all areas including superior cuisine," said Sebastian Ahrens, Managing Director of Hapag-Lloyd Cruises.

Clear lines give the design of "Restaurant Dieter Mueller" its character. Designer chairs and decor made of dark wood complement the warm shade of red adorning the walls. The best of the dishes is brought out by the fine puristic china made by the renowned manufacturer Hering. The crockery is characterised by the play between a glazed and matt biscuit surface.
