Margareth Madè to be godmother at the naming of the Costa Favolosa

Margareth Madè, Italian star of film "Baarìa", will be the named godmother of the Costa Favolosa (www.costafavolosa.com). The naming ceremony for the Costa Cruises flagship will take place on 2nd July in the magnificent setting of the Piazza Unità d'Italia in Trieste.

The Costa Favolosa, weighing 114,500 gross tonnes and carrying a total of 3,800 guests, will be the largest of the Costa fleet. The event to celebrate the ship's naming will be a tribute to Italian identity: art, beauty, music, people and history.

Margareth Madè
Margareth Madè is one of Italy's most elegant Mediterranean beauties, and a new icon of Italian cinema. With her grace and elegance, she reflects the style and values of the Costa Favolosa. According to tradition, Madè will cut the ribbon and break the bottle of Aneri Prosecco against the bow of the Costa Favolosa, confirming the ship's name.

As highlighted by Pier Luigi Foschi, Chairman and CEO of Costa Crociere S.p.A.: "Margareth Madè and Costa Cruises share the same values of Italian style: beauty, refinement and a strong personality. It could only have been this fabulous actress, who rose by right to the international elite of Italian icons, to become the muse of our flagship and Costa's unmistakable world-renowned style."

Margareth Tamara Maccarone (Madè) began her modelling career at the age of fifteen. After studying acting and diction, in 2008 she was cast to play Mannina in Baarìa by Giuseppe Tornatore. With strong box office results, the movie was the Italian entry for the 2010 Oscar Awards and was also nominated for a Golden Globe. Margareth has just completed shooting a thriller by Nikolay Pennestri.

The Costa Favolosa will make her debut with a three-day mini cruise departing from Venice on 4th July 2011, with calls to Dubrovnik (Croatia) and Koper (Slovenia). Her grand inaugural cruise departing from Venice on 7th July for 11 days will visit Greece, Turkey and Croatia, with calls to Bari, Smyrna and Istanbul (Turkey), Mykonos, Piraeus and Olympia (Greece) and Dubrovnik (Croatia).

For the entire 2011 (northern) summer season, the Costa Favolosa will sail seven-day cruises from Venice and Bari to Olympia (Greece), Smyrna and Istanbul (Turkey) and Dubrovnik (Croatia).

Throughout (northern) winter 2011/12 Costa Favolosa will offer eight-day cruises from Dubai. From 16th December 2011 to 6th April 2012, this "Jewels of the Emirates" itinerary will include Dubai, Muscat (Oman), Fujairah (UAE) and Abu Dhabi (UAE), Khasab (Oman).
