The Great Ocean Road Comes Alive with The Apollo Bay Music Festival 2009
The popular seaside resort town of Apollo Bay – on the Great Ocean Road – will come alive in late March for this year’s annual Apollo Bay Music Festival.
Held over the weekend March 27-29 – the 2009 Apollo Bay Music Festival presents an outstanding line-up in a range of genres with dynamic and eclectic performers.
From world music to theatre, comedy to jazz, rock to hip hop, gospel to country the 2009 Apollo Bay Music Festival is a must for lovers of music and entertainment - and is set in this traditional holiday haven on the magnificent Great Ocean Road and the gateway to the spectacular Otways.
Joining the 2009 bill are critically and internationally acclaimed singer songwriters Boo Hewerdine (UK) and Kim Richey (USA), Nicky Bomba, David Ross McDonald, the magical flamenco music of the Arrebato Ensemble and a host of artists from throughout the country.
These artists combined with the already announced stellar line up which includes: The Australian Art Orchestra, Robyn Hitchcock & the Venus 3, Tex Perkins & His Ladyboyz, Dya Singh, Limestone, Jimmy Little, Karma County, The Alan Kelly Quartet (IRE), Andy Baylor, Liz Stringer, Felicity Urquhart, Matt Walker & Ash Davies, just to name a few, make the 2009 Festival one of the most exceptional events on this year’s music calendar.
Choirs will also be a feature, with concerts from the Sudanese Community Choir (Colac) and The Apollo Bay Community Choir performing with Valanga Khoza and The Prayerbabies.
Caroline Moore, Festival Director says: “This year’s event combines incredible musicianship and talent from around the world, with a delightful dash of eccentricity sprinkled throughout the event. The audience will be treated to the diverse and outstanding talents of Robyn Hitchcock, Flacco & Sandy, Tex Perkins and Jimmy Little, artists that will make you laugh, cry, think and most importantly enjoy. To my mind we have some of the best talent from throughout Australia and indeed the world.”
The Apollo Bay Music Festival is also presenting some terrific one off performances including The Blues & Roots in the Round featuring Andy Baylor, Matt Walker & Ash Davies, Liz Stringer, David Francey (CAN) just to name a few, and the Festival has also inspired the following artists to celebrate the songs of Tom Waits:- Karma County, Boo Hewerdine, King Marong & Afro Mandinko, The Undesirables (CAN) and more.
