AirAsia launches first ever Megasale

LEADING low-cost carrier AirAsia has released in advance 2.5 million discounted airfares for travel in 2015 with its first ever Megasale in Australia.

The airfares, some as low as $11* one-way, will be available to book up to 12 months in advance — a unique opportunity to plan ahead and grab some bargains.

The Megasale comes at a milestone time for AirAsia, with total sales by Australians on the airline’s long haul sectors from Australian ports increasing by 72% from the first quarter 2013 to second quarter 2014.

The Megasale fares are available for booking from 2 June 2014 (2am AEST) to 8 June 2014 with the fares valid for travel from 5 January 2015 to 31 July 2015. Bookings to www.airasia.com

AirAsia X Head of International Marketing Stuart Myerscough said the Megasale was a fantastic opportunity for travellers and reflected the company’s leading position in the emerging long haul, low-cost stakes.

“Our increased flight frequencies including double-daily services to Kuala Lumpur from Melbourne, Sydney and Perth have opened up better connections with our expansive network including North Asia destinations such as Korea, Japan and Taiwan.

“Adelaide and Gold Coast have also had frequencies increased to five and seven flights per week respectively and are exceeding our expectations.”

Sales to Japan and Taipei saw significant growth from first quarter 2013 to first quarter 2014; with Osaka enjoying a sales increase of 518%, Taipei (419%), Seoul (334%) and Tokoyo (Haneda) (264%).
