Bookings for both the 'Festivals and Textiles of Bhutan’ tour and the 'Gorkhaland, Nagaland and the Hornbill Festival’ tour in India made before June 20, 2014, will attract a $250 discount on international flights booked through Active Travel or a $250 discount on the single supplement.
Starting on October 31, 2014, the 18-day 'Festivals and Textiles of Bhutan' tour begins in Kolkata, India, before moving to eastern Bhutan, an area rich in crafts yet sees very few visitors, and then visiting central Bhutan. At each location visited in the remote kingdom, local practitioners and weavers will explain their craft and the skills involved, including carding, dyeing and weaving. The tour also includes a visit to the spectacular Taksang 'Tiger's Nest' Monastery, located in the cliffside of a steep valley.
The tour, hosted by Active Travel co-director Christine Pearson, includes overnight stops at traditional lodges, all meals in Bhutan, and internal air travel. Ms Pearson says “this, our fifth tour, will appeal to those who enjoy interaction with locals and exposure to a range of textiles and traditions”. The ‘Festivals and Textiles of Bhutan’ tour is available from $7987 per person, twin-share, with a $1130 single supplement.
Flights from Australia to India are extra for both tours. A $250 discount on international flights booked in conjunction with the tour through Active Travel, or a $250 reduction of the single supplement, is available for bookings made on either tour before June 20, 2014. Conditions apply.
