A Manhattan Adventure That Can Be Framed, Literally

555782Sophie Mill has enjoyed ten years as a successful contemporary artist, and has exhibited her works in Australia, USA and Europe.

She attended the National School of Art, the Billy Blue School of Art, participated in the Contemporary Art Movement with Sotheby's Institute of Art in New York and is currently studying a Degree in World Culture and Professional Writing.  She is also an author, with her first book The Woman in the Distance due for release at the beginning of 2014.   On top of her creative successes, Sophie is a passionate and experienced contemporary art tutor at Pymble Ladies College on Sydney's North Shore, and was appointed the first 'artist in residence' at a NSW public school at Irrawang High School near Newcastle.

Sophie's art work is always personal and subliminal firstly.  Sophie says, "Art in its simplest context can produce anger, wonderment, jealousy, irritation, interest, bitterness, peace and calm all at the very same time. Self expression is being human and our humanness needs to express itself.  Painting and creative writing enables self expression in the purest form and from that we can grow spiritually, mentally, emotionally and socially."

555779The Sophie Mill Painting and Writing Tour of New York is nine days of creative exploration, of luxuriating in daydreams, and discovering New York through Sophie's eyes, based in a private brownstone terrace in New York City.  Sophie will transform her student's natural authenticity into beautiful, life enriching works of art, through discovering their individual inner creativity.

Travelers will meet and learn from other writers, artists and creatives, including international writing specialist, Columbia University Professor and third generation New Yorker, Debbie Beller Horwitz. The New York experience will be for each person to bring home their own art work, own journal and own enriching experience, through learning and understanding that looking at art is just as beneficial as discovering the artwork from within.

555776Sophie's passion and creativity is palpable, and has modeled these tours on her ultimate enjoyments in life; exploring, learning and creating. She says,"There are many moments in our lives whereby we wish we could simply sit, paint, write and think about the philosophies of life.  It is the internal desire to do something that is based on realness and that realness is passion and passion is what motivates us all."
