Queensland’s largest fireworks display to bring in 2014 at South Bank

South Bank fireworks New Years Eve

South Bank will stage Queensland’s largest ever New Year’s Eve fireworks display to herald in 2014.

This year the Brisbane River will light up with over five tonnes of fireworks and 30,000 pyrotechnic effects fired from three barges and three city rooftops.

This spectacular event, staged by Skylighter Fireworks, will incorporate three river-facing CBD building rooftops in an effort to connect New Year’s Eve celebrations across the inner city.

Locals and visitors alike are urged to join in the celebrations at South Bank. The displays will be held at 8.30pm and again at midnight and this year South Bank is expecting more than 70,000 visitors to enjoy the spectacular show.

The best views will be on the river’s edge, in front of the barges at River Quay, Streets Beach and the Cultural Forecourt at QPAC.

Make a night of it with the family and enjoy quick treats available from the many vendors and restaurants throughout the South Bank Parklands.

To ensure the safety of visitors to South Bank on New Year’s Eve, guests are advised to not bring bikes, scooters, glass, alcohol and drink bottles with broken seals including bottled water or soft drink to the precinct as these items will be confiscated at the gate by security staff.

Please also note pets are not permitted at South Bank on New Year’s Eve.
