Time for the Five Year Facelift at Amara
Recognised for its understated elegance, Park Hyatt Dubai will embark on a soft refurbishment of Amara, its luxurious spa, commencing in October 2010. The refurbishment coincides with the recent five-year anniversary of the property, which opened on 5 August 2005.
Set in idyllic surroundings on the banks of Dubai Creek and the world-famous Creek Golf Course, Amara is a true sanctuary of tranquillity. Focusing on rituals using Europe's finest treatments and therapies combined with indigenous Arabian touches, it is no surprise that Amara has taken 30,586 guests on a journey of the senses paired with unparalleled service.
"We have welcomed more than 30,000 guests over the five years since we opened and, between them, they have indulged in 28,558 massages using 1,500 litres of the finest oils," says Ms. Simone Elena Lange, spa manager of Amara at Park Hyatt Dubai.
"This is considerable traffic for a spa facility of our size and naturally we are now starting to see signs of wear and tear. Every year in Dubai we see an increasing supply of fantastic new spas, and we can not take for granted our fortunate reputation as being one of Dubai's leading spa's, so we must ensure the physical elements of the Amara spa experience, align with our treatments and service level, and, to this end, we have taken this opportunity to invest in and upgrade the spa's public areas and eight treatment rooms," she adds.
It seems as if spa-goers like the sweet touches, too, consuming almost AED30,000 worth of dates, almost a tonne of the fruit, in five years.
Exquisite fabrics sourced from the US, Belgium and Thailand have been selected in a neutral colour palette to complement the existing design of Amara, which is a magnificent tribute to ancient Moorish palaces.
The soft refurbishment will be carried out in stages, ensuring that the guest experience is not compromised, with an expected completion date of the beginning of 2011.
The spa experience at Amara commences in one of the spa's luxury suites that feature a private outdoor terrace and tropical rain shower. Guests appreciate the solitude and peace of their own space to enjoy the lavish rituals. With facilities, treatments and indulgent elegance unrivalled in Dubai, Amara offers the ultimate luxury spa experience. It features eight spacious luxury suites, including three couples' suites, each with its own private outdoor terrace, lounge area, and indoor/outdoor rain showers. Amara also offers a stunning 25-metre swimming pool featuring a series of built-in palm islands. With its adjoining private courtyards and cascading water features, Amara is in perfect harmony with the sophisticated retreat atmosphere of Park Hyatt Dubai.
