Yorke Peninsula All Set for an Action Packed School Holidays and Spring
Yorke Peninsula is gearing up for an influx of visitors for the school holidays and October long weekend. With an action-packed event calendar featuring a diverse choice of events, there's something to suit everybody and any taste. Yorke Peninsula Regional Tourism Manager Jo Barrie says that it is a brilliant time to visit the region, with the events throughout October & November set to attract visitors from across South Australia and interstate.
"From South Australia's most prestigious surfing event, the Cutloose Coopers Yorke's Classic to the Copper Coast Show n' Shine to markets, country shows and a rubber duck race, there is something for everyone during the school holidays."
"The line-up of things to see and do continues throughout spring, with the Moonta Open Gardens Festival, Minlaton Strawberry Fair, Maitland Art & Craft Fair and the Moonta Antiques & Collectable Weekend to name just a few of the great events that the whole family can enjoy," Ms Barrie says.
"In 2010, the Copper Coast is celebrating 150 years since copper was discovered and one of the key events is the Opera in The Mines, which will be held on location at the Moonta Mines rather than in a theatre. This event features one of the most loved operas, I Pagliacci, and an event of this caliber is not to be missed!'
"And of course in addition to all the events, there's a great array of beaches and attractions to explore around the region, with some great fishing action to be had from boat, jetty or shore, which all combine to make a fantastic holiday."
