Aussie guided 15-night secrets of Sicily tour

TAKE some gods, Greeks, wines and cooking, toss in a good selection of chocolates, cheeses, culture and classical architecture, and you've got yourself aboard a small-group 15-night tour of Sicily with Australia's Carolinasusi Italia Tours.

The heart of 3000 years of Mediterranean cultural heritage, this magical island is the country of Hercules, Zeus and Poseidon, birthplace of the original "fusion food" that brought  together the best from Rome, Greece, Arabia and Spain, a picture-postcard collection of ancient villas, the extraordinary Valley of the Temples, colourful fishing villages, rambling vineyards, nature reserves with strutting flamingos – and you can get up-close with a guided tour of the eternally rumbling Mt Etna active volcano.

Carolinasusi's Secrets of Sicily Tour departs the island's Palermo on October 5 this year, and rather than fifteen hotels in fifteen nights, is centred on Taormina and Siracusa for four nights each, Marsala and Palermo for three nights each, and a night in Agrigento – driving out each day to local cultural icons, historic sites, museums, restaurants in which the local chefs create wonders from the freshest from sea and land, and with one celebrity chef offering to teach you some tricks of the trade… and of course famous Marsala wines and a tasting of the island's finest chocolates.

Full-time Australian guides and a Sicilian tour leader, 15-nights twin-share hotels, breakfasts daily, most dinners and some lunches, local sightseeing, entries, regional food, chocolate and wine tastings (and with time for shopping) are all included in the price that starts from $6,885pp twin-share ex-Palermo; there is an Early Bird saving of $500 per couple, and single supplement is available at $965. Air travel is additional.
