General Manager John Primmer says the expansion of the spa and the extension of the spa menu were designed to meet the high demands for more space and variety of treatments from the hotel guests and day visitors.
"Apart from keeping our menus fresh and interesting for our guests, especially the regular ones, the new outdoor villas cater specifically to couples and those who enjoy post-treatment indulgences such as outdoor showers and flower baths," says Primmer. "The villas have been an absolute hit with parents and young couples."
Four notable new treatments for adults include:
- - Rhythm Sticks – a 90 minute treatment which involves the use of bamboo sticks of various sizes and heated oil;
- - Retune Yourself – a 90 minute treatment which involves an unlikely combination of the traditional Hawaiian massage technique of long rhythmic strokes and the Tibetan Singing Bowl (Suzu Gong);
- - Buff Bar, the first of its kind 120 minute treatment on Penang island which involves a personalised body scrub and a traditional Malaysian or Hard Rock massage; and
- - Pevonia Green Coffee Slimming, a 60 minute hi-tech cellulite treatment by Pevonia.

"Just like guitars that need retuning every now and then, the human mind, body and spirit also require retuning from time to time as well," says Primmer.
"Since the launch, we have received much positive feedback from our guests, including men and children, on the new menu and villas. We hope to continue meeting and exceeding their expectations."
To help guests retune and refresh for 2013, Hard Rock Hotel Penang is offering two special packages - the Twin Therapy Package which combines the Rhythm Sticks Massage and Buff Bar body treatment for approximately AUD100 plus taxes; and the Spa Duet Package which combines Retune Yourself and Muscle Ease Bath Soak) for approximately AUD88 plus taxes.
