COOKING UP THE PERFECT GIFT FOR MOTHER'S DAY

5-star Pullman launches cooking classes

Forget watching cooking shows on TV – now you can experience your own version of culinary theatre, with the five-star Pullman at Sydney Olympic Park opening its busy kitchen for intimate cooking lessons with Executive Chef David Greenhill. Launching on Saturday 16th May and then being held the last Saturday of each month, the cooking school is the perfect Mother's Day gift and will give participants the opportunity to experience the sights, sounds and smells of a commercial kitchen while gaining useful tips to make their own cooking better at home.

Priced at just $95 it includes the opportunity to go "backstage" in a professional kitchen, with a hands-on, interactive cooking lesson that culminates in a beautiful three-course lunch in Bacar Restaurant, with wine. A sample menu might include dishes such as a gazpacho martini with spanner crab salad and avocado mousse; roasted best end of lamb with tuscan cabbage, confit tomatoes and fondant potatoes; and hot chocolate fondant with marscapone ice cream and pistachio brittle.

"This is a unique opportunity to go behind the scenes of a commercial kitchen and learn the secrets and tricks that you usually only get after years of culinary school," said Chef Greenhill. "I hope to inspire and inform participants to try new skills and ingredients in their own kitchens and to discover a real passion for cooking.

"I believe this will offer something for every cook, from the novice to the seasoned pro and that participants will have fun while learning a new appreciation for food and wine."

Born and trained in England, Chef Greenhill was part of the opening team for Sir Terence Conran's Bluebird Restaurant in London and has also worked in some of the finest restaurants around the world, including Quaglino's London, Enotica Giovanni, Italy and Chateau Restaurant Joel Robuchon, Tokyo as well as at the New York Grill at the Park Hyatt Tokyo. He has cooked for the likes of Pierce Brosnan, Arnold Schwarzenegger, the Three Tenors and more.

Since arriving in Australia, David has worked at the Summit Restaurant, Park Hyatt Sydney and the MCA Café. He joined the Pullman from the 3-hatted Pier Restaurant at Rose Bay.

Chef Greenhill showcases the freshest produce and focuses strongly on European traditions, the finest ingredients and Asian influences.
