Country festival hits a high note in Hampton

The quiet village of Hampton near Toowoomba in South East Queensland Country will increase its population from 500 to 4,000 when lovers of culinary and visual delights arrive for the seventh annual Hampton High Country Food & Arts Festival on Sunday, May 17.

The festival includes the Hampton Art Exhibition showcasing the creative talents of artists living within a 50km radius of town. There’s also delicious food from the best local restaurants combined with samples and sales from local growers and producers, tastings from regional wineries and cooking demonstrations by TV chef Matt Golinski. Two music stages will feature a variety of entertainers including gypsy-swing duo Paris Dreaming, diverse four-piece band Mosaic Judy and melodic story-teller Christy Kilpatrick. Creative and cooking activities will also be available for children. Entry is $8 per adult and under 16 years is free. Kynoch Coaches offer a free bus service connecting Toowoomba and Highfields to the festival site. www.hamptonfestival.com
