New Consumer Website Gives Trade a Real Opportunity to Target Domestic Travellers

Australia’s best selling travel magazine re-launched its website with immediate success and much improved targeting for trade.

Australian Traveller magazine relaunched its website to coincide with the on sale date of its best selling issue, the 100 Best Towns in Australia. Not before time, according to the magazine’s chief.

“We had been promising the industry a much more effective site for 12 months and at last we delivered it,” says Australian Traveller director Nigel Herbert.

“The industry now has a highly targeted and sophisticated digital solution that targets travellers at precisely the right time – before they have made those vital decisions – where shall we go and what should we do,” Herbert continued.

Australian Traveller claims the new site has been immediately successful. Average page impressions doubled overnight, unique users increased by 30% from the very day the site went live and magazine subscriptions and back issue orders increased by 25% in the two weeks after launch.

For domestic operators, Herbert says the website now offers even more value in ‘crosshair’ targeting of real travellers looking to travel.

“We can now offer geo targeting for advertisers with a great deal of accuracy, so that operators can deliver their different advertising messages to specific cities, countries and or geographies. We also have solutions for all types of operators and budgets form a small sponsored link to a big retail push.” The new website has also incorporated some new functionality to increase Australian Traveller’s well-established community of readers.

“The readers are loving being able to not only correspond with the editor but each other with their comments, articles and features. It’s satisfying to see the interaction continue and grow,” Herbert said
