Nakiska Opens Longest Ski Vertical, Most Lifts, and Most Runs in the Canadian Rockies!
With close to 40cm of snowfall over the last 48hrs, Nakiska Ski Resort plans to have more terrain and more lifts open this weekend for the second weekend of early operations in the 2010-11 ski season.
The forecast predicts more light snow throughout the week in addition to ideal snowmaking temperatures, perfect for Alberta's Largest Snowmaking System! With snowmaking fully underway on the lower mountain and the combination of natural and man-made snow, Nakiska will potentially have a total of 8 runs open, with top to bottom skiing accessed by the Silver and Gold Chair Express. Skiers and snowboarders will get to enjoy over 2,555ft of vertical this weekend - the most in the Canadian Rockies!
In addition, Nakiska's Minute Maid Learning Area will be open with access from Alberta's Longest Magic Carpet, the Monster Carpet!
The TELUS Winter Sports School pros will also be available for ski and snowboard instruction. Weekend operations will be from 9:00am to 4:00pm, both Saturday and Sunday. Check with www.skinakiska.com for more details.
