Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo, on THIS WEEKEND

For three days this week the Newcastle Jockey Club, Broadmeadow will become home to over 150 of the states best caravan and camping manufacturers and holiday destination exhibitors. With something for every budget and taste the Newcastle Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo will showcase everything from a $300 000 motorhome to a $200 tent.

Recently released data from the Australian Bureau of statistics (ABS), shows that the caravanning tourism sector was one of the strongest performing tourism accommodation sectors for year ending March 2010. Holiday units received a growth of less than 2% where caravan and holiday parks received an increase of 8.7%.

Barry Baillie CEO of the Caravan and Camping Industry Association (CCIA) believes that the Newcastle Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo will heighten tourism in Newcastle and surrounding suburbs by attracting a targeted genre of travelling enthusiast who will no doubt wish to visit the vibrant cosmopolitan city time and time again. Local retailers and manufacturers are also likely to prosper.

"Over the three days, the Newcastle Expo will create a substantial economic impact within the local community by drawing thousands of visitors to stay at local hotels, motels, caravan parks and dine in restaurants, cafes and bars" said Mr Baillie.

The Newcastle Caravan, Camping and Holiday Expo will be a superior event, with plenty to see, hear and do including a jumping castle for the littlies, live radio broadcasts, air-conditioned fully licensed bars and cafes and live entertainment. Showgoers also have the opportunity to join the Hon. Jodi McKay, Minister for Tourism and Minister for the Hunter at the grand opening at 1.00pm Saturday, 12 February from the expo grounds. During this time a number of awards will be presented to Newcastle Expo Exhibitors for 'best displays'.

The Newcastle Expo starts this Friday 11 February and runs through to Sunday 13 February. Free parking for all visitors, gates open 9am-5pm daily (Close 4pm Sunday) at the Newcastle Jockey Club, Darling St Broadmeadow. Admission costs are $10 (Adults); $6 (Pensioners/Senior Card Holders).

For those new to the market or those wanting to add to their gear, the Newcastle Expo is the ideal event to grab great bargains on everything caravan and camping!

"Everyone deserves a holiday, and caravan, camping and RV getaways are still the best value holiday option for all Australians, offering something for every budget," said Mr Baillie.
