Taj Safaris - Elephant back safaris in India


Taj Safaris, India's first luxury wildlife circuit, in collaboration with &Beyond, has introduced the unique wilderness experience of Elephant Back Safaris for their guests. Guests are offered the rare opportunity to explore the Indian Jungle on the back of these lumbering gentle giants, while taking in all the sights, smells and sounds of India. Elephant-back safaris also offer a unique way to see the Bengal Tiger and experience the incredible Indian Wildlife. Guests can experience the Elephant Back Safaris at Mahua Kothi - Bandhavgarh, Baghvan - Pench National Park and Banjaar Tola - Kanha National Park.

Baghvan Lodge

Baghvan Lodge is located by a stream, surrounded by forest, on the edge of the sprawling Pench National Park. Its spacious, rustic standalone suites and airy guest areas make a wondrous starting point for guest's journey into the wild. The lodge is named after the king of India's jungles, the regal Bengal tiger ("bagh" = tiger, "van" = garden), Pench National Park provided Rudyard Kipling with the perfect backdrop for his classic tale "The Jungle Book".

Mahua Kothi

Mahua Kothi is nestled in the vicinity of the breathtaking Bandhavgarh National Park and is the first of the Taj Safari Lodges. The lodge sprawls over the 40 acre grounds, around the renowned former tented camp, Churhat Kothi, the accommodation and facilities of the lodge blend charmingly into the quaint and rustic surroundings.

Banjaar Tola

Banjaar Tola is located on the edge of the Banjaar River, peacefully overlooking Kanha National Park. Kanha is one of the best maintained National Parks in India, the Banjaar Tola lodge and suites epitomize the design mastery of Sanjay Prakash, a renowned environmental architect who is deeply committed to energy-conscious architecture, eco-friendly design and community participation in planning.
