Explore the tropical rainforests, powdery white sand beaches and coral reefs of the Caribbean on a 16 day adventure aboard Silversea’s luxury expedition vessel – the 132-guest Silver Explorer.
Departing 2 October 2013 from La Romana in the Dominican Republic, Silver Explorer will sail east to the British Virgin Islands of Jost Van Dyke and Anegada - encircled by the largest barrier coral reef in the Caribbean, and take in the abundant wildlife of Saba, Netherlands Antilles. In Montserrat, guests will board Zodiacs to explore towns buried in ash by the island’s live volcano, and Silver Explorer will then travel to Les Saintes, Guadeloupe – known for its charming French ambiance. Guests will visit a turtle nursery and snorkel in pristine turquoise waters in Bequia, Grenadines and take in Bridgetown, Barbados.
All-inclusive cruise only fares start from AU$7,504 per person, double occupancy. Travelling west to Scarborough, Tobago, Silver Explorer’s guests will explore the Buccoo Reef by glass bottom boat and learn about the production of cocoa at the Tobago Cocoa Estate. They will visit a traditional coffee plantation in Port of Spain, Trinidad, and the largest marine park in the Caribbean in Los Roques, Venezuela. Moving to Colombia, Silver Explorer will call at Santa Marta, close to the Sierra Nevada Mountains, and the beautiful walled city of Cartagena – a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In Panama’s San Blas Islands, guests will visit a Kuna community, before arriving in the ship’s final destination of Colón.
The luxurious Silver Explorer offers all-suite ocean-view accommodation with butler service; complimentary small-group excursions guided by expertnaturalists, historians, ornithologists and geologists; gourmet meals with menus designed by Relais & Châteaux; wines, Champagne and spirits served throughout the ship, and all gratuities included in the fare.
A fleet of Zodiacs allows for up-close explorations and flexible itineraries allow the ship to stay longer at sites of particular interest, or make detours whenever weather, nature or mere curiosity dictate.
