Canadian Food +WineIn its passionate quest to discover different dimensions of the fine dining experience, The Reflexions modern French cuisine restaurant, acting in close collaboration with the Embassy of Canada in Bangkok, has embarked on a special mission to regale Thai fine dining devotees with the delights of Canadian food and drink by virtue of a five-day sequence of Canadian-themed Wine Dinners from 06th to 10th August 2013– all in good time for Canadian National Day on July 1st.

One of the world’s less well-known cuisines is in fact packed with delightful surprises. With its extensive Atlantic and Pacific coast lines, its diversity of landscapes and its multi-ethnic culinary culture, Canadian chefs can conjure up practically anything while many of its wines rival the best of the New World.
In particular, the French-Canadian gourmet tradition is complemented by British Canadian classics while the Aboriginal, or North American Indian, extends the list of enriching possibilities with wild game, vegetables and herbs. Meanwhile, prime surf, turf and farm produce inspire gourmet dining on the epic scale that Canada’s vastness naturally inspires.

Selecting Canadian ingredients and culinary concepts with the most outstanding appeal, inspired Chef Daniel Bucher and his award-winning team have created a special Canadian menu of abundant charm. Begin with an Amuse Bouche of Canadian oyster from Nootkasound and proceed to an hors d’ouevre of fresh Canadian goat cheese espuma, compressed strawberries  and salted lemon. This The Reflextion-Plaza Athenee Bangkok, A Royal Meridien Hotelshould put diners in the mood for the next course of Arctic char, Trans Canada Trail, arctic char raw and smoked, native Red Indian roots and greens, followed by succulent Snow crab, fresh, hot, steamed, with a light herb and avocado soup. The experience gets more intense with the arrival of White halibut, black wild rice, green peas, cranberries and pecans. Meat eaters meanwhile will savour On the Wild Side featuring bison tenderloin, spiced sour plums, and porcini mushroom. And chef certainly hasn’t forgotten about dessert either with a pre-dessert of Picking berries, Canadian berries and cream, and a pièce de résistance of Sweet Canada, capped with coffee or tea.

Some of Canada’s wines winning international acclaim will provide the perfect complements to the cuisine, notably, 2007 STELLER'S JAY BRUT, VQA OKANAGAN VALLEY; 2011 RIESLING, MISSION HILL FAMILY ESTATE;  2010 MERLOT, BC VQA OKANAGAN VALLEY; 2011 CABERNET FRANC ICEWINE
Canadian Food + Wine Promotion Week lasts from August 6-10, priced THB 5,500 net per person (THB 3,850 net per person Wine Ambassador Club Members).
