Help Native Wildlife While Holidaying in the Grampians National Park
The health of the environment is at the forefront of global media, government and community attention. As an individual it is easy to feel overwhelmed at the enormity of environmental crisis’, and perhaps even powerless to make a significant change. Please don’t despair! In these coming autumn/winter months, you can make a positive change by taking a short break to the much loved Grampians National Park and joining our small team of enthusiastic individuals who are truly making a difference to the plight of endangered and threatened native wildlife.
For more than three years, Conservation Volunteers and Parks Victoria have joined forces to provide a real opportunity for individuals to participate in major wildlife conservation projects. The Naturewise Conservation Holiday, Wildlife Monitoring, is a nature holiday experience like no other. After just one day of deep immersion in the Grampians National Park, working right alongside national park rangers and wildlife researchers, you will feel a world away from your daily routine and a real sense of achievement by contributing directly to wildlife conservation.
According to previous participants, there is nothing else quite like this experience:
“This trip was so much more than could possibly be described in mere words. I was treated with respect by the rangers and welcomed into their world openly. The physical activities associated with the wildlife monitoring were varied and new. These are not every day experiences, believe me! The absolute joy from what I encountered during those few days will stay with me for a long time...I can't wait to do it again.” Philip Neill, South Australia.
This is not a passive holiday! The Naturewise Conservation Holiday involves active participation, a hands-on role in vital wildlife research studies, monitoring the survival of small mammal species in the park. Each day you’ll be transported by 4WD into remote locations within the national park, armed with data-sheets, a clipboard and a UHF radio. Close encounters with cute critters are common, as are regular sightings of other gorgeous Grampians ‘residents’, the kangaroos, wallabies, emus and stunning birdlife.
The advanced eco-tourism certified Naturewise Conservation Holiday experience is fun and truly unforgettable. With mornings dedicated to conservation activities, afternoons are enjoyed exploring the beauty of the Grampians National Park, visiting local attractions, or simply relaxing at the renowned YHA Ecohostel. Three nights accommodation, delicious meals and transport are included, prices starting at just $560 per person.
