Clipper Cruising Playgrounds

The lure of exotic cruising will see the clipper ship Star Flyer in two vastly different places in 2014/ 2015 -- the French Riviera and Cuba.

The 170-passenger luxury sailing ship will spend from May to September 2014 cruising the European playground of the rich and famous, then cross the Atlantic Ocean for an inaugural season Star Clipperfullsailof 17 cruises from the sophisticated port city of Cienfuegos (250kms from the capital, Havana) between December 2014 and March 2015.

Lonely Planet says Cienfuegos “has long seduced travellers from around the island with its elegance, enlightened French spirit and feisty Caribbean panache. If Cuba has a Paris, this is most definitely it”.

Seven-night round-trip sailings start at $1845 including port taxes and all meals and entertainment on board. Ports of call are Cayo Blanco, Casilda in Trinidad, Little Cayman, Georgetown (Grand Cayman) Cayo Largo, and the Canarreos Archipelago.

Before moving to Cienfuegos, Star Flyer will make Panama Canal crossings on two special cruises: November 9 -- 14 nights from Barbados to Panama ($ 4842) and on November 23, nine nights Panama to Cienfuegos ($ 2930).

The European program, which starts in May 2014, features seven-night Monaco Grand Prix cruises as well as itineraries from Monaco/Cannes to charming ports in Corsica, Sardinia and Elba, seven-night cruises from Monaco to St Tropez and Palma de Mallorca, and some additional departures to Spain and its party islands.
