Hong Kong's Hot New Bars - Drink like a Boss



It’s no surprise that the culinary capital of Asia also boasts a buzzing nightlife with a huge selection of bars and clubs to suit every taste and budget. Over the past few months a number of trendy and sophisticated establishments have joined Hong Kong’s classy bar scene allowing guests to sit back with a well-made drink and enjoy their surroundings, wherever they may be.

So, for those in search of swank and style these 5 hot new bars provide exactly that.

1. Origin
Gin seems to be the hottest thing on the menu right now in Hong Kong and so it’s no surprise that Tastings Group have opened Origin, a bar dedicated to this classic spirit. The cool decor of exposed brick walls and plush plaid seats creates the perfect atmosphere for tasting your way through the selection of seven classic and 11 signature cocktails. Though what makes these cocktails so special is mixology- the impressive culinary methods used to mix the drinks by master mixologist Anthonio Lai.

2. Caprice Bar (pictured)
Bringing a whole new meaning to the word fancy Caprice bar at the Four Seasons Hotel Hong Kong has stunning views, elegant decor, French wines and its own dedicated cheese room with fresh cheese flown in from France each week! An offshoot of the Michelin Starred Restaurant Caprice, this new bar is the perfect location to enjoy the finer things in life.

3. Ronin
For a very James Bond-like experience head to On Wo Lane in Sheung Wan and look for the grey padded door at the bottom of the stairs that slides open into this very hip bar. There are a small number of seats available for diners as Ronin serves delicious market fresh Japanese food including sweet potato, yam and bamboo Okinawa market chips, squid sashimi, geoduck clam salad and more. For those looking for a drink, the urban decor and unique cocktails such as the Maple Old-Fashioned make this the perfect hangout.

4. Common Room
Privé Group’s newest venue, Common Room is located in the quieter part of Lan Kwai Fong and is one of the latest ‘gastrobars’ to hit Hong Kong. With an amazing cocktail menu, a 31 foot-long glass and cast iron bar and a quirky outdoor terrace, Common Room has been named to represent a shared space similar to the common room of a school or university. Featuring an amazing cocktail list, dance music and tasty finger food such as Wagyu foie gras burgers and tandoori octopus it’s easy to start your night here and never leave!

5. G&T Bar
Overlooking busy Hollywood Rd this sophisticated establishment specialises in...you guessed it...gin with 80 different varieties on the menu including signature gin cocktails. The bar itself is British-themed with chilled tunes and a cosy atmosphere, making it the perfect place to sit back, relax and enjoy the spirit that is so hot right now in Hong Kong.
