Go West on new California Wine Tour

Australian travellers can now explore California’s spectacular wine country by indulging in a new 12-day self-drive journey from San Francisco to Seattle from US-based operator New World Travel (www.newworldtravel.com).

Represented in Australia by Sydney-based Tourism Portfolio (www.tourismportfolio.com.au), New World Travel has for more than 30 years offered a broad range of FIT and group tours across the US and Canada. Sonoma Vineyard in bloom
The company’s new 12-day ‘Western Wine Trail’ tour begins in San Francisco and roams through Northern California and the Oregon Wine country before reaching Seattle, Washington.

Along the way guests can visit Sonoma, the birthplace of California’s world-class wine industry, learn about sustainable farming and viticulture in Willamette Valley, enjoy Portland’s world-renowned restaurants and bars and meet local winemakers in Woodinville, home to almost 100 wineries and tasting rooms.

Travellers also taste locals cheeses, picnic in botanical gardens and raft through Hellgate Canyon on Oregon's Wild and Scenic Rogue River, home to an extraordinary array of wildlife such as black bear, river otter, black-tail deer and bald eagles.

“Australians are constantly looking for new experiences in the US and the Western Wine Trail provides an opportunity for lovers of fine wine and food to get off the beaten track and meander through some of North America’s most striking landscapes,” says Tourism Portfolio Managing Director Donna Kessler.
